GAME OPEN - INTRO MINGLE
| INTRO MINGLE: BOUNTIFUL BUFFET | ||
![]() | NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
New arrivals will continue trickling in as time goes on, always arriving close enough to the Obsidian Fieldlands base camp to be spotted and shepherded back to the safety of Jubilife, or in the vicinity of a material-gathering party who can gather them up as well. Characters are given a spare set of clothes once they arrive at the village. It's usually something resembling a casualwear kimono and trousers, fitted to them specifically.

| PLANNING PHASE | ![]() | |
| As the new arrivals begin to show up in force, the Galaxy Team's leader, Kamado, makes more and more visits to the Wallflower. Soon after, the Wallflower's chef and owner puts out a call for help: Ingredients, of all varieties, and extra hands that can prepare and cook food. It seems a big buffet is in the works - and the whole village is invited! OOC NOTES: ❧ The in game length of the gathering, prep, and meal phases totals 4 days, but feel free to thread well beyond that. ❧ Wildcards and additional prompts are absolutely encouraged here! ❧ Characters who arrived during the TDM may consider those threads canonical to the game if they wish. ❧ Have fun! | ||

![]() | GATHERING PHASE (DAYS 1-3)
The request goes out in the early morning on Friday: Ingredients! Food items! As much as you can carry! The reward, the green haired maestro of cooking assures you, will come in time. Though if you can’t be convinced to work for free, he’ll turn over some coin with minimal grumpy mumbling. The ingredients he’s looking for are all easy to locate in the Obsidian Fieldlands - a variety of berries, the ever sweet combs of Dazzling Honey, and the savory Springy Mushrooms that grow at the bases of trees. There are other herbs and plants on the list as well, so feel free to make some up as you go.

| MEAL PREP PHASE (DAYS 3-4) | ![]() | |
| As loath as he is to admit that he needs help, Beni is allowing folks into his kitchen to slice, dice, and sauteé in preparation for the big day! Ingredients need to be washed, sorted, prepared, and stored safely. Wood needs to be chopped for the cooking fires. New additions to the pantry are still being accepted. Whatever you can contribute helps, Beni assures everyone. If you’re feeling like there’s too many cooks in the kitchen, tables and benches need to be set up outside. The tables inside need to be washed and set up as well. Decorations are discussed - maybe some colorful lanterns or banners…? | ||

![]() | FEAST (DAY 4) | |
When the day comes, tables and benches are set up in front of Galaxy Hall and filled to the brim with food. Rice, great big hotpots of ramen, plate after plate of mochi - potato or otherwise - and a truly incredible selection of clay pots containing quality teas, brewed fresh for the occasion. And that’s just scratching the surface! Between the Agriculture Corps tireless work on harvesting food and all the new arrivals’ hard fought spoils, the feast is truly grand.

| GOOD OMENS (NIGHT) | ![]() | |
| After the feast, as night begins to fall over the village, characters may look up to see that in the clear starry sky, a meteor shower has begun. The shooting stars come in all colors, too, filling the night with a cheerful rainbow incandescence. Locals stop and point, the superstitious among them exclaiming that this is a good omen. A sign that things are looking up. They say there’s an old legend about this sort of meteor shower - that if you make a wish on the colorful streaks in the sky, it just might come true... | ||

"E...Eh? Oh, um...yeah, I suppose you did. You're not, ehh..."
They trail off and their gaze falls a bit, somehow even hazier for several seconds before they jolt and look back vaguely at his face.
"You're not supposed to...uh...sorry."
Huh?
no subject
"I'm not supposed to see two of you?" Yuga looks down at the knife and picks it up, delicately holding it by the handle and offering it back to Reach. "Are you okay? You seem frazzled."
no subject
Yes what? Reach isn't entirely sure themself, but it's obvious at least that they've been caught in the act. It takes considerably more trying than normal, but those extra them's out of sight slip away entirely one at a time while the one Yuga's stood here talking with stares blankly at their cutting board for some awkward seconds.
Once their senses are back in one place, though, they shake their head a little and rub the back of their neck with one hand while they delicately accept the knife from him and clear their throat. "Err, no, that is. Normally I'm a bit better about playing that little trick off, an' it's meant to be a secret. Guess it's not happenin' as easy here though."
Reach sighs and stretches their legs under the table, then offers a gloved hand. "I s'pose I owe you an apology?"
no subject
"Little trick?" Yuga asks curiously. Then, thee small boy smiles and takes the offered hand, shaking it. "Nothing to apologise for. In fact, I think it's pretty cool. How do you appear multiple places at once? Is it magic? Alien science?"
no subject
Reach laughs again and shakes their head. "It's honestly gonna be tough to explain. But I s'pose the best way to put it is that in a manner of speaking, I'm already in all those places. It's just a matter of whether I'm there there. Seems whoever's callin' the shots here is makin' that a bit more difficult for me than normal, though."
"...You're not gonna blab about it, are you?" Is Reach worried? Not particularly, since this ability of theirs is apparently more or less useless, but it doesn't hurt to ask. "Normally I use it for investigative stuff, but it's not gonna work so well if I have investigate someone who knows I can do it."
no subject
"But your powers... is it like you're duplicated but your consciousness is singular and split between them? Or is it some sort of temporal abnormality in a limited space where you're simultaneously there and not there? You're already in all those places... is there a limit to how many yous are there?" Yuga's scientific mind is reeling and even if he knows magic can't be explained, he's incredibly interested in understanding. His eyes are practically sparkling in curiosity.
no subject
"Well normally that's the case for everyone, if you're interested in the technicalities." And he very much appears to be, so they have no problem letting their Limbo-frazzled explanation run on. "Kinda like these mushrooms - the gills there, see? Is that the right word?? Separate near-identical branches from one base, close together but never intersecting. It'd be a better example with a different kinda sprout, but the gist is that's how infinity works, more or less, at least in worlds like this one. Everyone and everything is, was and will always be everywhere, if you take all timelines into account. The trick to being everywhere at the same time is to hop across the boundaries of those timelines. My folk don't live in linear time anyway, so it's not actually all that special an adaptation to have." Then they deflate with a little huff. "Normally, anyway. Whoever that flashy welcoming committee was has changed the rules here a bit, I think. Limited my range, or something.
"-But, err, to answer your questions specifically, that seems to be the case here, which I imagine means those other me's are just echoes rather than the real real. And I'm not sure I'm inclined to try any more 'n two, if three put me in that kinda state."
And, hopefully, their rambling is some kind of satisfactory for his curiosity. And, even further hopefully, spilling this isn't going to give him any ideas. If it even matters with you-know-who running the no fun parade, anyway.
no subject
Too bad. Yuga has lots of ideas. Especially when he's heard that space-time distortions are semi-common. He stores those ideas in the back pocket of his mind and nods.
"Must be hard if you're used to the other 'yous' being more life-like. Do you and your other selves ever fight?"
